The “Open Bore†MRI system, called a 1.5 Tesla, has a larger opening, called a bore, and is ideal for claustrophobic and larger patients while maintaining the ability to capture high-field quality images. It is the first of its kind in this area and the same model used at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. and other major centers. Hospital officials expect the MRI to be operational by July 31.Workers from the J.C.
