NORWALK -- A 15-year-old was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with stabbing a man in the arm outside a Connecticut Avenue barbershop Monday afternoon, police said.

Police said they identified the youth who stabbed the victim, 21, through surveillance footage, according to a news release from Detective Bureau Lt. Timothy Murphy.

The teenager was arrested after he tried to flee investigators who had arrived at his home with a search warrant, police said.

The youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon, breach of peace and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. He is being held at the Bridgeport Detention Center until his arraignment, the release said.

The man was stabbed outside Zacks Barber Shop on Monday around 3:08 p.m., when officers responded to calls about a fight in progress. The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital.

Police said two gang members were detained for questioning, enabling investigators to get a search warrant for the teenager's home on Wednesday.

Sgt. Marc Lepore, and Detectives Louie Giannattasio and Shannon Sherry saw the teen running near the Suncrest Village housing complex. Giannattasio caught the 15-year-old after a short foot chase and took him into custody.
