The Norwalk Police Department is investigating the apparent suicide of one of its own, police said Tuesday.
Officer Kenneth Cerulli, 41, was off duty when he was found dead in his Blackstone Drive home around 6:15 p.m.
Cerulli, a two-year veteran of the department, suffered what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot, police said in a news release. There was no evidence of foul play.
"We are saddened to lose a member of our family so suddenly and tragically," Norwalk Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik said in the release. "We offer our deepest condolences to his wife and family. We ask that the privacy of the family be respected at this very difficult time."
Cerulli is survived by his wife, Jennifer, police said.
