The Rowayton Library held its third annual Father Daughter Ball at the Rowayton Library and Community Center April 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. More than 300 "fair maidens" of the community and their fathers (or favorite father figures) attended in formal attire. They were adorned with corsages and boutonnières created by the Rowayton Gardeners, and were treated to a multicultural journey around the world -- from Paris (and parfume) to China (oriental fan decorating) to Germany (horse carriage rides) and Great Britain (and the royal crowns). They were serenaded by sounds including Mariachi music from Mexico and drums from the jungles of Madagascar. Upon arrival, they were given their "boarding passes" and "passports" and embarked on their fantasy flight.
This annual ball is becoming a Rowayton tradition, and the proceeds from this event help keep the Rowayton Library running full steam.
