On Sunday, Jan. 6, join Frank Bruckmann in the Rowayton Arts Center Art School studio for a demonstration from 2 to 4 p.m. The free demonstration complements "From the RAC Studio," an exhibition of artwork by RAC's award-winning instructors and artists who have participated in classes or workshops during 2012. Bruckmann is a renowned artist who teaches "Painting from Photographs" on Tuesday evenings.
Meet RAC's award-winning artist-instructors and their students during the opening reception for "From the RAC Studio." The free reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. This exhibition spotlights artwork in various media by RAC Art School instructors plus some of the adults and young artists who participated in RAC's 2012 classes and workshops. "From the RAC Studio" continues through Jan. 27.
In other RAC news, artist-instructor Kevin Dunn has a new class at the RAC Art School. The first eight-week session of "Contemporary Figure Painting Can Be Easy" is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 9. Legos at library
Explore the world of building with Legos on the first Saturday of each month beginning Jan. 6 from noon to 3 p.m at the library. This program for kids ages 6 and up at the library is a Lego building/creations workshop where children can work alone or in teams and build a creation based on their imagination and the "Theme of the Month." This is an open session where your child can build for a few minutes to a few hours. When your children are done building, we will take a picture of their creation for "the Archives." Then, please dismantle the creation and put the bricks back in the storage bins. This program is free and open to the public. A snack will be served. Sixth Taxing District meeting
In preparation of the Sixth Taxing District's annual budget to be voted on at the annual meeting on March 6, the Commissioners have arranged for two budget meetings on Jan. 7 and Jan. 23. The meetings will be at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in the Rowayton Community Center. The community is invited to attend. The next Commissioners' Meeting of the Sixth Taxing District Commission will be Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. The agenda: approval of the minutes of the Dec. 12 meeting; results of environmental assessment for District office; presentation by District Auditors; presentation by Rowayton Library; presentation by Rowayton Little League; reports from Commissioners; District Treasurer; District Fire Marshal; District Property Manager; District Administrator; District Clerk; RR Guards; and Community Policing Officer.

Free `Secret of the Wings' screening
The Rowayton Parents Exchange is partnering with the Rowayton Library with MovieTime for Kids on Friday, Jan. 4, at 3:30 p.m. with "Secret of the Wings."
From the world of Disney fairies comes an all-new movie for the whole family that unlocks an amazing secret about Tinker Bell that will change her life forever. Join Tinker Bell and the rest of your favorite fairies in a magical adventure that leads them to discover a new winter fairy world and reveals new winter fairy characters.
The 75-minute movie is rated G. Popcorn will be served. This program is free and open to the public.
CCNS Open House
The Community Cooperative Nursery School will have its Open House on Thursday, Jan. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. CCNS is a preschool with a 59-year tradition of providing children a creative environment with professional guidance. Parents are invited to the open house to meet the teachers, talk with the families and visit the classrooms.
