The Norwalk High School Marching Bears have been hard at work at band boot camp preparing the fall show,"Gypsy Caravan."
The marching band and color guard will debut the show during Spirit Night on Friday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. at Andrews Field at 20 County St.
For the 2012 competition season, the band will represent a tribe of gypsies traveling throughout Europe, trying to entice and lure people into joining their caravan. The band will perform a varied repertoire, which ranges from traditional Bulgarian works to more contemporary concert band literature.
The lively music, combined with the vivid colors and costumes of the color guard, are designed to create an entertaining and challenging marching-band show.
Spirit Night is an annual tradition that celebrates the band's accomplishments during band camp, gives the public a preview of the fall show and marks the official open of the fall competitive marching season.
The NHS Marching Band has a long history of excellence and is known throughout the Northeast for its consistent levels of high achievement, hard work and showmanship.
