With boating season fast approaching, the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk is offering a "Safe Boating & Personal Watercraft" course Saturday to help residents get the most out of their summer.
Offered in a convenient one-day format, the course is perfect for new boaters and longtime seafarers who enjoy a refresher. Topics include safe and correct boating techniques, navigation rules, legal requirements, safety at sea and more. Completion of the course earns participants a safety certificate required by the state of Connecticut for the operator of any motorboat or sailboat over 19.5 feet.
The course runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants can bring a lunch or purchase one at the Aquarium's cafeteria. The hour-long break includes the opportunity to explore the Aquarium.
Cost is $85 per person. Advance reservations are required. Call (203) 852-0700, ext. 2206.
Other "Safe Boating" classes will be held at the Aquarium on May 21 and June 18.
