NORWALK — A city man was not seriously injured when he was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm Monday night, police said.
Norwalk police Lt. Paul Resnick said police, paramedics and firefighters were called to 14 Silk Street at 9:56 p.m. on the report that a 55-year-old man had been struck by a bolt of lightning. Resnick said the man was conscious and alert when police arrived.
Fire Lt. Mark Franzen said his engine was called out and he was told to hold his men inside the engine during the heavy downpour. He said emergency medical services personnel got to the scene just before he arrived.
Before they were cancelled about five minutes later, Franzen said no one was wheeled into the waiting ambulance on a gurney, indicating that the man probably suffered only a minor shock.
