SoNo Market Place, an indoor European style market, featuring more than 50 local merchants under one roof, will celebrate with a grand opening on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sitting on the waterfront at the edge of Village Creek at 314 Wilson Ave., SoNo Market Place offers a shopping and dining experience unlike any other in the area.
The venue is the brainchild of Joe Grasso, president of Grasso Construction, along with his daughter, Sammy and John Palino, creator of the New Zealand TV series, The Kitchen Job. The blending of their expertise brings this extraordinary place to life.
The market provides an opportunity for New England artisans and merchants to showcase and sell their creations, as well as being an incubator for new businesses. Customers can "eat, shop and learn," as the market houses a variety of eateries, a wine bar, cafe and a collection of shops. It is also available to host events and offer classes throughout the year. The atmosphere is warm and festive, which creates a fun place to gather with friends.
The former Nash Engineering Building, built in the 1920s with its old world charm, is the home of the new market, and will house an array of fresh breads, olive oil, pastries, gelato, brunch items, gourmet coffees, grilled foods, fresh seafood, organic meats and dairy products, pizza, chocolates, cookies, jewelry, art, photography, clothing, home goods, antiques, gifts and much more.
The Grassos and Palino have generously donated a booth to Festivities Foundation's store, "Pass On The Love," which is a curated collection of items that are being sold to raise money for charity.
Activities for children will include pictures with Santa, a magician, caroling, live music and more.
