Teressa "Nicole" Weaver and William Arthur Bates were married Sept. 11 in Plano, Texas.

The bride is the daughter of Alex and Tina Merrifield of Doc's Way, New Milford.

The bridegroom is the son of Patrick Bates of Kellogg, Idaho, and Mary Mitchell of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Teressa Bates graduated from New Milford High School and from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., with a degree in psychology and special education.

She is a special education teacher at Richardson North Junior High School in Richardson, Texas.

William Bates graduated from Lyman High School in Lyman, Wyo., and from the University of Arkansas with a degree in English and secondary education.

He is an English teacher at Richardson North Junior High School. He also has served in the National Guard for 19 years and is stationed at Fort Chaffee in Arkansas.

They are living in Plano.
